Father of 5 Killed in Hit and Run, Police Search for Driver

Winslow Township Police say they may have identified a vehicle and driver involved in a deadly hit and run of a Chesilhurst  man late Saturday night.

Ezekiel Tomboyeke, 59, was hit walking home from a bus stop on the 200 block Pump Branch Road in Winslow Township when a driver veered off the road and hit Tomboyeke. He was killed instantly.

Tire tracks at the scene show the vehicle make a U-turn and drove away.

"It's a big tragedy we are dealing with in this family. We lost someone we love" said brother Francis Tucker.

Tomboyeke moved to South Jersey in 1998 from the African country of Sierra Leone to escape a brutal civil war. Tonight his extended family is mourning his sudden death.

"It looks very bad to his someone and leave them on the side of the road like a dog" said cousin Anita Squire.

Tomboyeke worked 2 jobs 6 days a week to provide money for his 5 children back in Africa.  His children were told of their father's death over the phone.

"He does everything for them. I don't know what his family is going to do without supporting them and taking care of them" said sister-in-law Rose Mustapha.

Residents nearby complain of drivers exceeding the speed limit on the long straight rural road with few street lights.

Robert Iuilucci lives across the street from the hit and run scene. He says his uncle was killed on this road 2 years ago in a motorcycle accident.

"Low visibility. Really no street lights. Just flying leads to disaster" Iuilucci said.

On Sunday afternoon Winslow Township Police told Fox 29 that investigators have identified a driver and vehicle involved in the hit and run. But so far no arrests. Meanwhile a family on 2 continents are hoping for justice.

"I plead to this person to come forward. Please let him or herself identify themself" said cousin Lucy Brooks.
