Chancellor Francisco G. Cigarroa sent a letter to Governor Rick Perry regarding the presence of concealed handguns on university campuses.
It was also delivered to Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, House Speaker Joe Straus, Chairman Joe Pickett of the House Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee and Chairman John Whitmire of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee.
In the letter, Cigarroa states that the presence of concealed handguns "will make the campus environment less safe."
It also reiterates concerns outlined in a 2011 letter to Perry when the issue was last before the legislature.
