Pace Bend fatality

Two men are dead and another is injured after the truck they were riding in rolled over a cliff.

Travis County Sheriffs deputies were called out to the Ranch Resort of Lake Travis near Pace Bend Park, just after midnight -- by a man who said he was trapped underneath a truck.

Officials say the driver of the truck lost control and flew over a 100-foot cliff and landed near the lake.

The surviving passenger, who was trapped and not able to move but somehow found his phone, called 9-1-1 for help.

It took crews about an hour to get the trapped man free.

He was flown to UMC Brackenridge with life threatening injuries.

The other two men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Lt. Steve Rudkin with the Pedernales Fire Department said the heavy rain made it difficult to find the crash site.

"It was very difficult for us to find. It was well off any normal road. It was down by the marina her, they have a local marina. I don't know how they went off the road but they went off the road in a big way."

It is unclear what happened or even when the accident occurred.

The owner of the property say he saw the men driving around hours earlier.

Investigators spent the day trying to put together the pieces of the evidence.

It is unknown if the men were visiting or from the Austin area.
