NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The family of the 6-year-old boy who was accidentally killed by a truck in Harlem will sue New York City for $50 million.

Amar Diarrassouba was hit by a tractor trailer at First Avenue at East 117th Street on February 28, when he was walking to school with his 9-year-old brother Issouf.

According to the New York Post, Amar's family filed a notice of claim on Thursday. The impending lawsuit names the city, the NYPD and the crossing guard, Flavia Roman, as defendants.

The family also filed a lawsuit in New Jersey against the truck driver, Robert Carroll Jr., and the trucking company, McLane Foodservice Distribution.
