‘Dazed and Confused’ to be honored at Texas Film Hall of Fame awards
Some major stars are in town Thursday to honor a film that is beloved to Austin and a particular Oscar-winning director will be making the presentation.
The red carpet has been rolled out to honor one truly epic movie. We're not talking about Argo or Lincoln or one of those critically acclaimed works, this is all for Dazed and Confused.
The 1993 movie about high school fun in the 70s has become a cult classic and it was filmed here in Austin. The great Quentin Tarantino, who loves the movie, will be here to present the Star of Texas Award to the film.
Tarantino is not the only big name here today. The 'coal miner's daughter' herself, Academy Award-winner Sissy Spacek will be presenting, along with All in the Family actor turned director Rob Reiner. And of course Rob Reiner's classic heavy metal mockumentary-This is Spinal Tap. Spinal Tap star Michael McKean will be here too.
Of course, some of the Dazed and Confused actors as well as East Texas native and director Richard Linklater will be here as well.
