Program hopes to break Facebook addictions by keeping time

Posted: Updated:

Remember the Energizer Bunny? it keeps going and going and going...

Well, thanks to another pink bunny, you can see how long you have been going and going and going, on Facebook.

"Time Rabbit" clocks how much time you spend on Facebook. The program is compatible with all major web browsers and easily downloaded to your desktop.

This is how it works: You log onto Facebook and Time Rabbit starts its timer. After you've left Facebook for five seconds, it stops the timer.

Time Rabbit recognizes when you aren't actively using Facebook. If you keep it open in a tab, it won't keep time until you've clicked back to the page.

The allure of the program is that you can look at your statistics and see how many hours of productivity you waste checking status updates instead of doing work.

You might be thinking, "I don't want to know how much time I spend on Facebook, I already know it's a lot."

The company behind Time Rabbit hopes to help people who may have a Facebook addiction break their habit.

FOX 10's Kristin Anderson reports.
