Cardinals Meet For 2nd Day Of Pre-Conclave Meetings

Posted: Updated:
VATICAN CITY -

Cardinals met at Vatican City for a second day of pre-conclave meetings Tuesday.

The Vatican is still waiting for five cardinals to arrive in Rome before the date of the conclave is decided.

Many of the cardinals are not only new to the process but are still getting to know each other.

In a sign that Vatican City may be getting closer to a date for the election, officials closed the Sistine Chapel to visitors. The chapel needs a false floor and workers must level out the surface to hide anti-bugging devices.

The cardinals appear to be in no hurry and their decision so far to meet only in the mornings indicates their desire for reflection.

The Vatican on Tuesday announced it had approved a message to the Pope Emeritus, thanking him for his service.

FOX 29's Iain Page will be in Rome next week to bring you coverage of this historic event. We'll take you behind the scenes and cover all the angles of selecting a new pope.

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday.  That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
