Amplify Austin blew away its $1 million goal, raising more than $2.3 million in a 24-hour period, which ended at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.
"We increased that, both in dollars and givers, by 150 percent, which talks to the incredible heart and caring of the central Texas community," said Patsy Woods Martin, Executive Director of I Live Here, I Give Here.
More than 20,000 people and organizations made donations to the campaign. The money will be given to more than 300 local non-profits. And organizers plan to hold the event again next year.
