A beloved coach is hanging up his whistle and running shoes. He's taught generations of students in Laveen schools.
Kids listen up when Coach Harry Taylor speaks. He's the physical education teacher at MC Cash Elementary.
"Kids have been the number one priority for me."
He's a legend at the school, teaching P.E. for 38 years. But he also gave them lessons in life.
"I wanted to make sure that kids in this area know that even though they may lack certain things they could still survive and succeed," says Taylor.
He's taught the parents of many kids in his classes today. It's like family for him.
"I just really enjoyed working with kids and staff in this community and that's why I've stayed here all this time."
But he feels it's time to go. He will be missed but not forgotten.
For decades there was no gymnasium at this school, but the coach was able to work around it. And it came as a big surprise when they finally did build it -- they dedicated to him.
Now Coach Taylor will always be remembered.
Coach Taylor will officially leave his job in May, but will come back once in a while as a substitute.
