Motorcycle frames, parts recovered from Lake Austin

Posted: Updated:

A tip leads authorities to Lake Austin near the 360 Bridge, where they found parts to at least 14 motorcycles.

Austin Police got a call from a recreational diver.

So APD called The Department of Public Safety.DPS divers have been out the past few days.

Police say some of the motorcycles were stolen and some of the cases are years old.

Judging by where the parts were dumped, Detective Brent Mullinix with APD's Auto Theft Unit says it appears someone on the 360 Bridge just threw the motorcycles over the edge. He also says there is some concern about environmental impact.

"Some of the motorcycles we found still had oil and gas in them which has leaked into the lake," he said.
