Round Rock Police have released video surveillance of a woman they say set a fire during a jewelry store robbery.
According to police, the suspect entered QY Jewelry Store at 220 Sundance Parkway just before 2:00 p.m. Witnesses said the woman began browsing in the store before a clerk eventually helped her try on different pieces of jewelry. Once she had the jewelry, she began to flee and began struggling with the employee. She tried to run to the front door but an employee locked it.
At this point witnesses told police she ran back to the counter and lit a fire using the flammable contents of a cup she had been carrying. As employees worked to put out the fire she fled out the back door.
The suspect is described as possibly being an Asian woman in her early 40's. She has a very light skin complexion and a large mole on the left side of her face near her nose. She is between 5'2" and 5'4" tall and weighed between 130 and 150 pounds. She was last seen wearing a red knit hat, white or off-white jacket with a hood, black shirt, black pants, black shoes and prescription glasses. She might have been driving a silver car.
Investigators have posted the surveillance footage online and are asking for help identifying the woman.
Round Rock Police are asking anyone with any information about the robbery or the suspect to contact the Round Rock Police Department (512) 218-5500 or report an anonymous tip to 847411 using the password RRPD.
