A Florida sculptor is creating a life-sized tribute for the family of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.
When he heard of Kyle's death three weeks ago, Sarasota artist Greg Marra knew he had to create his sculpture.
Kyle was the author of "American Sniper" and was the most lethal sniper in U.S. history with 160 confirmed kills. He was shot and killed at a Texas gun range, allegedly by a veteran with PTSD he was trying to help.
Marra said he had to do something to honor this American hero.
"When I heard the story about Chris Kyle and being the same age as him and having a family, I just was compelled to build this statue of him for his family for the great state of Texas and for the United States."
The statue will be shipped to Texas soon and donated to Kyle's family. It will be bronzed, which takes eight to 12 weeks.
Marra hopes it will be ready to be dedicated by summer.
