Highway 71 closed in Bastrop until 6 PM

Westbound Highway 71 near Highway 20 in Bastrop County is expected to remain closed until 6:00 PM after power poles were knocked into the road.

Around 11:00 AM Monday a dump truck hit a power line knocking over some poles. The westbound lanes of Highway 71 were closed.

Authorities set up a detour at FM 969. Drivers are being told to turn right onto FM 969 and then left on FM 1209 to get back to Highway 71.
