Over 100 pounds of marijuana found at Douglas food bank

TUCSON, Ariz. -

More than 100 pounds of marijuana were found at a food bank on Friday morning, according to Douglas Police Department.

Officers say five large bundles of marijuana were hidden inside a box of squash sent from the Tucson Food Bank.

No evidence linked Douglas Food Bank employees or volunteers to the box.

Tucson Community Food Bank has started making changes to prevent a similar situation from happening again.

Tucson News Now reports the food bank is under tight surveillance and President and CEO Bill Carnegie told them he doesn't think it's an inside job. He said they'll be doing more thorough inspections from now on.

"We haven't really felt a need to do that with produce that's coming in. Especially when it's coming in bulk like this product was," said Carnegie. "So, we are going to get our volunteers on it and sort through this stuff and make sure it never happens again."
