A routine traffic stop in Fayette County led to seizure of over 300 pounds of marijuana Friday afternoon.
A Department of Public Safety Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 Ford F-250 pickup for a traffic violation on IH-10 just two miles west of Flatonia. The trooper observed several criminal indicators and searched the vehicle with the driver's consent.
During the search of the vehicle, the driver ran into the woods. The suspect was apprehended after a short chase.
The trooper located 309 pounds of marijuana in the tool box and auxiliary in the bed of the truck.
The driver, 44-year-old Jose Luis Ramirez of Laredo was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
