Looking for ideas to spruce up your house without breaking your budget? A local blogger is teaming up with Home Depot to help teach a do-it-herself class.
Whether it's in a magazine or online Austin blogger Jamie Dorobek is constantly looking for inspiration and cheap ways to do it.
More than one million page impressions each month craft savvy people want to know what the 28-year-old is making. Her blog is called CRAFT which stands for creating really awesome free things.
"Everyone wants to make their house a home that's why doing it yourself is such a great option because you can use what you have and make things pretty without having to spend a fortune," explained Dorobek.
Actually doing instead of pinning or liking doesn't have to be overwhelming. The former teacher and now professional blogger is teaming up with the Home Depot to teach a do-it-herself class.
"Do it herself. This is where we teach and empower women to do their own projects," explained Maritschka Springer with The Home Depot in Georgetown. Springer sees new and old faces in all of the classes which cover a range of home projects.
"Depending on how big the project is, it can save them hundreds of dollars," Springer said.
Dorobek will be teaching a class on how to make a Pinterest inspired mosaic mirror. A few simple products, $40 bucks and a few hours and you have a brand new bathroom mirror.
"You're framing around the mirror and just jazzing it up," said Dorobek. And your house one project at a time.
You can learn how to make the mosaic mirror at the Home Depot in Georgetown. The class is free from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
