In order to allow lights at the Methacton High School fields, Worcester Township Board of Supervisors would have to change an ordinance.
Methacton High School administrators want to install lighting on a school athletic field, but that means the law has to change and some residents aren't happy with the idea.
On Wednesday night, the Worcester Township Board of Supervisors continued a meeting from last month regarding lights for the high school's field.
More than 1,000 members of the community signed a petition in support of the lights, but they can't be installed unless the board changes an ordinance to allow lights higher than 12 feet.
Some residents say the lights will bring too much traffic and crowds.
"We don't want to be another King of Prussia," one resident said during the meeting.
The issue has been around for nearly 20 years in the township, and some residents say it's time to move forward.
The board of supervisors decided to revise the current ordinance. The revised ordinance will be discussed in a meeting scheduled for next week and then will be put to a vote on April 2nd.
