PHILADELPHIA -

Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police released a sketch Wednesday of the suspect wanted for stealing thousands of dollars worth of property and an urn.

The theft happened last month in home on the 9500 block of Walley Road.

Police say a man claiming to work for the city knocked on the door of a home and told the homeowner he needed to check the wires behind his home.

After keeping the homeowner occupied for 30 minutes, police say the man entered the home and took a large metal safe that had a coin collection worth thousands of dollars, along with the deed to the man's home, insurance paperwork and the man's deceased wife's ashes.

Police describe the suspect as a white man, unshaven with a medium to heavy build. He was last seen wearing a three-quarter length dark coat with light dress pants.

The vehicle he was last seen driving is described as a late model silver mini-van, possibly a Chrysler, police said.

If you have any information, you're asked to call police at 215-686-3153 or 911.
