PHILADELPHIA -

A West Philadelphia man whose violent arrest made national headlines will soon walk free.

Video of the arrest of Askia Sabur was posted on YouTube back in 2010. It shows police officers hitting him as they took him into custody on charges of aggravated assault and disarming an officer.

Police testified in court that Sabur bit one of the officers and tried to grab his gun. A jury didn't buy it and acquitted him on all charges.

"It's been a very stressful and long two years," said his lawyer, Evan Hughes. "Mr. Sabur was seriously injured as a result of the police action, he had many hits to his head he had staples in his head, a broken arm. It's a miracle he survived.

Sabur will be released in the next few days.

His attorney has filed a civil suit against the city.
