PHILADELPHIA -
Attorney Tom Kline visited FOX 29's Good Day on Monday to discuss the progress in the case involving the abduction of a 5-year-old girl from her West Philadelphia elementary school.
Kline represents the child's mother in the case, and says he is confident that police are very close to future arrests.
"There is no doubt in my mind that there will be additional arrests," he said. "There's clearly a man involved, there's clearly another, younger girl involved."
A hearing for Christina Regusters, the 19-year-old suspect currently in custody, is scheduled for March 6th. Regusters' attorney claims that she knew the victim, but that is as far as her involvement goes. An element of Regusters' DNA was found on the T-shirt that the little girl was wearing, investigators announced last week.
"I've been around this town for 35 years practicing law and this is as heinous and horrible a crime as you will ever see," Kline said, but he added that the most remarkable piece in this case is how instrumental the little girl has been in helping to identify her abductors.
The girl led police to the door of the home where she was held and was able to tell them about the parrot inside.
The physical and psychological damage done in this case is unspeakable, but Kline said that the 5-year-old is incredibly resilient. She still smiles and is excited for an upcoming birthday.
"She's surrounded by love and love goes a long way," Kline said.
