PHILADELPHIA -

What started as a fire turned into the investigation of what police call a marijuana grow operation in an abandoned home in Philadelphia.

Police say a search conducted after a fire Sunday in a home on the 2600 block of North 27th Street led them to an abandoned home next door.

Investigators say it was at that time they discovered the suspected grow operation.

Police say the home has been abandoned for the past six months. No marijuana was found inside of the home, but police say they did find materials used to grow it.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear.
