A Valentine's Day pop-up market was all about showing love to Detroit and our local artists. A normally quiet corner in Corktown was full of shoppers Thursday looking for all kinds of locally made treasures.
"I have freshly made, hand rolled chocolate truffles. I have about a dozen different flavors," said Pete Steffy from Pete's Chocolate Company.
"We've come upon a lot of good products that we roll out to people who have food allergies or just want better, healthier ingredients," said David Kolbus with Motown Creative Bakert.
The pop-up was Lisa Waud's idea. She bought an old service station and is transforming it into a floral design studio. She already has one in Ann Arbor, and this will be her first location in Detroit.
"We're going to fill it with trees and flowers, and we'll be able to have weddings and other events here," she said. "I was so excited to find this space for our second location here in Detroit and I didn't want to wait until we started renovations, so I thought pop-up market and Valentine's Day."
"It's like a flash mob. It's exciting and not there all the time, so it's got the exclusivity," said shopper Redd Fannin.
It was definitely a fun way to celebrate Valentine's Day.
