When It Comes To Your Teeth, 'The Gap' Becoming Fashionable

When It Comes To Your Teeth, 'The Gap' Becoming Real Fashion Statement

Posted: Updated:

Snaggle puss, bucky beaver, tunnel teeth - all very cruel teases for what's known by many as "the gap."

Some people might pay almost anything just to close the gap, and doing so meant braces or bonding.

But some people are choosing to embrace their gap as opposed to wanting to get rid of it.

The gap has become a real fashion statement for some and a big money maker for others.

Think former New York Giants linebacker Michael Strahan. The football pro turned TV personality has become a huge confidence booster for "gapped ones" all over.

But for 21-year-old Marianna Le Donne, the gap wasn't always a badge of honor.

"In school, I'd get teased, like 'why do you have a missing tooth in the front of your mouth?' I'd come home from school upset and my mom would say 'no, don't worry, it'll fill in when you're older, you'll have bigger teeth.'"

And perhaps a bigger gap.

But now, Le Donne tells FOX 29's Joyce Evans she loves her gap and others agree. Overseas, some people are even purposely creating gaps in their teeth just because of the trend.

You can watch the story in the video above.
