Phoenix couple arrested in Walmart shoplifting incident

Prescott Police have arrested a man and woman for shoplifting and assaulting an officer.
Sunday afternoon, Prescott Police officers responded to Walmart for a shoplifting incident. The crime prevention officer reported that a couple had just walked out of Walmart with a cart full of unpaid merchandise. They left in a gold-colored Cadillac.
A short time later, officers stopped the suspect vehicle nearby. The driver was identified as 38-year-old Stephanie Isban. Her passenger was boyfriend Michael Brandon, 38. Both are from Phoenix and said they were just visiting Prescott.
Isban exhibited signs of impairment, police say, and she admitted to using prescription medication for which she had no prescription. She was taken into custody. Officers found that Brandon had a misdemeanor warrant and he was taken into custody.
The merchandise stolen from Walmart was found in the trunk of their car. The value of the items was $1,000. Narcotics, prescription pills, and drug paraphernalia were also found in the car.
The suspects were taken to the Yavapai County Jail and there, Isban allegedly became uncooperative and kicked an officer in the leg. She then tried to run out of the jail intake area, but was caught almost immediately.
Isban and Brandon were booked into jail for shoplifting, possession of dangerous drugs, and drug paraphernalia. Isban is facing additional charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, attempted escape and DUI-drugs.
