Austin Police weren't as busy as they expected to be on Mardi Gras night.
They held a no refusal initiative Saturday night and arrested 18 people for drinking and driving.
For those who refused to give a breath test, police got mandatory blood withdrawals.
Police held the no refusal initiative from 9 o'clock Saturday night until five Sunday morning.
Austin Police also conducted a no refusal last weekend.
That and the rainy weather may have played roles in the slow evening.
Corporal Michael Jennings with APD's DWI Unit.
"It might be because its so close to Super Bowl, Mardi Gras fell on a weird time this year, you never know what's behind the numbers and stuff like that but so far its been a pretty slow no refusal for us tonight."
The next 'no refusal' will be enforced this coming 'Fat Tuesday.'
