Brown blames social media for loss of some UT commits

Texas Coach Mack Brown believes that social media sites are to blame for losing some recruits to other schools.

Five decommits from the recruiting class left Texas with no defensive linemen and just 15 signees. That is the lowest in seven years.

"There's been more people flipping around the last two years more than ever and they think a lot of it is because of social media," Brown said. "Coaches can get to kids much easier, you guys can get to kids.. So this kid, everybody gets in his head.

"You can get to a young man now through Twitter and nobody knows it. High school coach doesn't know it. Mom may not know it. So it's just different. I think the thing that we will do is we've allowed a couple kids to commit and still look around the last couple years. We're gonna go back and say we're not doing that anymore. If you're committed to us, be committed, and if you go look, we're gonna go look."

Despite the losses, Mack called it his best offensive line class. Signees included Darius James of Harker Heights and the number one junior college tackle Desmond Harrison.
