Austin police are searching for a man they say sexually assaulted a homeless man after offering him food and shelter.
According to police, on Jan. 28 the victim was given a ride from the 200 block of 4th St. near Lavaca Street but was taken to an apartment off Barton Skyway.
"Upon getting back to the suspect's apartment, the suspect pulled a gun on the victim and then forced the victim and sexually assaulted him at the apartment," said APD Lt. Justin Newsom.
Police say the apartment did not belong to the suspect.
Turns out the apartment was not the suspect's. It's a vacant apartment in the 2900 block of Barton Skyway," said Newsom.
Police say the suspect was driving a dark grey 2008 or newer Toyota Sequoia with a tow package and chrome accents.
The suspect is described as a heavy set Hispanic male in his 30s, 5'6" to 5'8" in height and about 190 pounds. He has brown eyes with very thin manicured eyebrows and black closely cut hair. He also wore blue baseball cap with an orange colored underside bill.
Anyone with any information is asked to call police at 512-974-5230 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS.
