American Idol: painfully bad auditions

Lost in translation? The misunderstood, the off-key, and the painfully bad singers of American Idol's Season 12 get remembered by the judges and create some of the season's funniest moments.

As the early auditions wrap up and the judges send the lucky and talented few to Hollywood, we should take a moment to remember some of the misunderstood, tone-deaf and downright awful singers who got their moment in the spotlight.

The judges like trying to guess if the contestants have talent before they sing their first note.

"That's the thing, I love when people make me laugh, so sometimes when people come in and just end up being a laugh, I kind of wish they could sing a little bit too," Nicki Minaj said.

"I think if you're going to walk in with a costume and a weird wig on, then you not intended to be taken seriously and the critiquing can be pretty unbridled completely," Keith Urban said.

"That becomes a great bonding moment as well, when we are laughing with one of the contestants, we're also bonding as judges as well and it's a great moment," Nicki said.

For the future William Hungs of the world, Keith said that they should keep singing, just not professionally.

"The ones that I find more delicate are the ones that aren't very good that they genuinely think they are, they genuinely think they are wonderful and tone deaf and they love singing and it's just all over the place and we say it's just not your thing," he said.

To say the 6 feet 5 inch Baloji has a presence would be an understatement. The Belgian artist commands the stage with his mix of hip hop, funk, and rap. The 34-year-old rocked out Webster Hall back in January. Now he's back in New York City kicking off a month-long tour. "It's one of the most inspiring cities on Earth so it's always great to be here," Baloji says.
