Investigation Finds Prescription Drugs Illegally Sold At AC Convenience Stores

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

Several people were arrested as part of a large investigation into the alleged sale of male enhancement drugs, prescription drugs and untaxed cigarettes at several local Atlantic City convenience stores.

According to the Atlantic City Police Department, the investigation found the stores to be selling the male enhancement products and other drugs but packaged them under various name brands, including "Black Ant," "Power-X" and "Nite Rider."

The investigation, which included local, state and federal agencies, was part of the "Safe Summer" initiative, New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa said.

"These medications can pose serious, permanent health damage when taken incorrectly, or by patients who are taking certain other mediations," Chiesa said in a statement. "Their sale without a doctor's prescription, and by any entity other than a licensed pharmacy, is illegal and dangerous to anyone foolish enough to ingest them."
