The happy kitchen: Cilantro Chutney

Katy Levit, with the Sustainable Food Center, brought a healthy Super Bowl recipe to the Good Day kitchen.

Recipe: Cilantro Chutney


  • ¼ cup unsalted peanuts
  • 1 bunch cilantro, coarsely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne or Indian chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons peeled gingerroot, coarsely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
  • ½ cup water


  1. Place peanuts in a blender and grind to a medium-fine powder.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend well, adding more water if necessary.
  3. Serve as a spread for sandwiches; as a dip with bread or vegetables; or as a topping for fish or chicken.
  4. Chutney freezes well.
