On Friday, Feb. 1 the Plymouth Whalers will host a blood drive at Compuware Arena.
The American Red Cross is in urgent need of blood due to four Detroit area blood drives being canceled on Monday because of the ice and snow.
The drive takes place from 12 - 6 p.m. and participants will get a $12 Whalers ticket for coming.
The Plymouth Whalers are currently first place in the West Division of the Western Conference. Facing off at 7:05 p.m., the Whalers play the Sault Ste. Marie Soo Greyhounds in what is expected to be a heated game. The two teams played in October and earlier in January, both games won by the Soo Greyhounds. The Soo Greyhounds are currently in third place, but a win on Friday against the Whalers will certainly shake things up.
Compuware Sports Arena is located at 14900 Beck Rd. in Plymouth. Donation types for the drive include double red cell donations and blood.
