Local shelter rescues severely abused dog

Posted: Updated:

Local police and the Hutto Shelter are looking for the perpetrators who severely abused a female collie. Austin Pets Alive! rescued the dog, Victory, from the local Hutto shelter on Friday.

Victory was found earlier this month wandering near a busy Hutto road. After being found by the Hutto shelter, she was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment of her injuries, which include a clean cut to her face. She is missing her nose and lips.

Austin Pets Alive! worked with the shelter in Hutto to transport Victory to Austin this morning. They also found a foster family to help nurse Victory back to full health.

"Collaboration, quick response, knowledgeable medical staff, as well as the largest foster network in the country allow Austin Pets Alive! to save at-risk animals like Victory," said Dr. Ellen Jefferson, Executive Director at Austin Pets Alive!

Victory will begin undergoing medical procedures immediately.
