A winter weather advisory goes in effect Friday at 4 p.m. as a system is set to arrive in our area just in time for the Friday evening rush hour.
FOX 29 Chief Meteorologist Scott Williams says the system doesn't have a lot of moisture, which means areas throughout the Delaware Valley will most likely only see light accumulations.
The timing of the snow, however, is unfortunate as Williams says it's set to arrive around 5 p.m.
The winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service remains in effect through 1 a.m. Saturday. The snow, however, will most likely be out of our area by midnight.
The timeline of the snow:
Friday, 6 a.m.:
We'll begin the day with sunshine but the clouds will quickly start to come through from our south and west.
Friday, 12 p.m.:
The sun will start to be hidden by clouds as the storm moves closer to our area.
Friday, 5 p.m.:
After 4 p.m., the storm will have made its way to our area. It's around this time that light snow will begin to fall.
Light snow will continue to fall throughout the Delaware Valley.
Friday, midnight:
It's around this time the system diminishes and moves out of our area. In the Philadelphia area, we should see a coating of snow between 1-2 inches. Further south, in areas around Cape May and Wildwood, we could see between 2-3 inches of snow.
