NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

New York City has big plans to join in on the party when New Jersey hosts the 2014 Super Bowl at Met Life Stadium.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Thursday previewed a week of New York City events leading up to the February 2014 game in East Rutherford, N.J. It will be the first Super Bowl in the area.

New York's piece of the Super Bowl spectacle will include closing part of Broadway for a football fan festival.

"Super Bowl Boulevard" will stretch from 44th St. down Broadway to 34th. St.

"New York City is already the nation's Super Bowl champion of tourism destination and next year around this time hundreds of thousands of fans from across the country and around the globe will converge on our region to see the NFL's best," said Mayor Bloomberg. "All these activities are going to show our city's best face to people from around the world and will make being in New York for the Super Bowl truly memorable."

The game's media center and the televised NFL Honors awards show also will be in the city.

Bloomberg says the festivities will show the city's best to people from around the world.

Goodell calls the plans as big, bold and unique as New York City itself.

"While we can only fit 80,000 fans into MetLife Stadium for the game in East Rutherford, New Jersey, we look forward to hosting hundreds of thousands of people at different attractions and events during Super Bowl Week, throughout all parts of the area."
