The FBI has executed a search warrant at a home in the 400 block of Milton Street in south Austin behind Jovita's Mexican restaurant. Authorities believe the home belongs to the owners of Jovita's.
Amado Pardo, the owner of Jovita's who was facing federal drug charges, died at his home Tuesday night.
His attorney confirmed the news to FOX 7 Wednesday morning.
Pardo was arrested in June along with 18 other people following numerous busts across the city including at Jovita's. Authorities had accused Pardo of leading a heroin trafficking ring out of the restaurant.
Pardo got very sick in jail about a month ago and was moved to a hospital. On Monday a hearing was held and Pardo was allowed to go home. He had been diagnosed with liver cancer, hepatitis of the liver, and Parkinson's disease.
His attorney will now file a motion to dismiss the case. His trial was set for February 11.
