3-Alarm Fire Destroys Popular Allentown Restaurant

Posted: Updated:
ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire and cold temperatures at a popular restaurant in Allentown Tuesday morning.

SkyFOX was live over the scene of fire at Youell's Oyster House on the 2200 block of West Walnut Street during the height of the fire.

The fire was placed under control around 7:15 a.m,  but flames were still visible after 8 a.m.  Smoke billowed into the blustery morning air as part of the popular eatery's roof collapsed.

A total of five firefighters were injured.  Three suffered minor injuries and two were injured when part of a wall collapsed.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley filed several reports from the scene.  He also spoke to the owner of the restaurant,  who is determined to rebuild his beloved restaurant.

Authorities tell Fox 29 there will be an exhaustive investigation into the cause of the blaze.
