The former head of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is running for mayor of New York City.

Joe Lhota spoke with GDNY on Monday about his mayoral aspirations.

"What is one of the things I've been known for is the willingness to talk to everybody. There is nothing that can't be worked out," said Lhota about how he'd have handled negotiations with the teachers union over the funding the city won't be awarded.

Lhota's likely contender is City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

"My background together shows I have the leadership skills to lead the City to the next level. Running a legislative process and managing a problem and performing and hitting all the goals and exceeding all the goals is a different skill set. The mayor of NY is a CEO. Everything in my background leads me to that position," said Lhota.
