Man Accused Of Firing Gun Into SEPTA Train To Stand Trial

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The man who police say was caught on surveillance video firing a gun into a SEPTA train last month will stand trial.

Two people were struck in last month's shooting but survived.

Matthew Early, 18, is now charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault.

Surveillance video released in December by police shows a suspect firing a handgun into the SEPTA train following a Bulls-76ers game. The shooting happened on the westbound SETPA El train at 46th and Market.

Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department say the gunman had just excited the train when he turned around and fired once at a passenger.

The shot passed through the passenger and then struck a bystander.

Investigators say an argument over the Sixers game lead to the shooting.
