Food Network star Guy Fieri to auction off custom Corvette

Posted: Updated:

We know he's passionate about food. But today the Food Network's Guy Fieri took some time to talk about his other interest -- Chevy Corvettes.

He has a custom ‘Vette in the Barrett Jackson auction, and he's hoping it brings in big bucks for charity.

Today the Food Network's Guy Fieri took the wheel before he auctions off the 2013 version of the classic car for his foundation -- Cooking with Kids.

"It's about empowering kids through food, so when kids can make a decision about what they're going to eat, and they're going to cook it, and just that feeling about making food for themselves and making food for their family and what that does for their self-esteem."

The host of Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" teamed up with Chevy to create a Guy Fieri edition of his favorite car -- a convertible Corvette.

"So we're talking aluminum block 427 505 horsepower with a great six speed and I'm going to tell you something that's all the power you need when you have no roof," says Fieri.

It has a 7 liter, V-8 engine on the inside -- a black and yellow paint job on the outside -- and Guy's autograph on the interior. Before today's appearance the famous food connoisseur had been filming at six valley restaurants.

The local spots he stopped by for his 14th season are Perk Eatery, Curry Corner, DeFalco's Italian Eatery, Barrio Cafe, The Duce, and St. Francis.

"This is why we keep coming back. So now it's a package deal. I'm in the Barrett Jackson family, I'm a triple D fan down in greater Phoenix, this isn't the last you've seen of me."

The Corvette will be auctioned off Thursday at about 8.p.m. And the winner will also be featured on Diner's, Drive-Ins and Dives in the city of their choice.
