Family disturbance turns into deadly stabbing

Posted: Updated:

Travis County Sheriff's deputies say a family violence incident in northwest Travis County turned into a fatal stabbing Wednesday morning.

Deputies were called to the 22000 block of Big Sandy Drive just before 10:00 a.m. When deputies arrived they found James Prestage, 29, with a stab wound. Prestage was taken by STARFlight to the hospital where he died before noon.

Investigators say the suspect, 47-year-old Reggie Horton, was still at the scene. Horton and Prestage were cousins, and both lived at the house. Horton was taken into custody.

Detectives are still collecting evidence and talking to witnesses to determine what happened and what charges will be filed.
