A mayor in Massachusetts is preparing to offer a program aimed at convincing families to get rid of their violent video games, movies and toys.

Melrose Mayor Robert Dolan says he is preparing to launch a video game buyback program for the beginning of February.

Families who opt to turn in their violent games, movies and toys will receive coupons in return.

As a father of two, Mayor Dolan says he felt obligated to start the program after the school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
