An 84-year-old man died when a fire ripped through his Frankford home Sunday morning.

Emergency responders say the victim was rushed to Temple Hospital where he later died.

FOX 29's Omari Fleming reports the victim was identified as 84-year-old John "Jack" Blitchford.

Firefighters say the fire sparked around 8:30 a.m. in the home located on the 1600 block of Bridge Street.

Heavy smoke was reported by firefighters early but by around 9 a.m., it appeared the fire was under control.
