An Austin man facing charges in connection with the death of a teenage girl on New Year's Day is now facing another set of charges in the case.
Authorities arrested 23-year-old Jose Ricardo Zavala-Garcia in connection with the death of 13-year-old Sophia Martinez.
Austin police issued a warrant for his arrest after he admitted to drinking alcohol on New Year's Eve, which was a violation of his parole. He was taken into custody off Bluff Springs Road Thursday night without incident.
Police believe he and Mario Angeles-Hernandez provided alcohol to Sophia Martinez. She didn't wake up on New Year's Day. Toxicology results are now pending.
Police continue searching for Angeles-Hernandez. He is wanted for endangering a child and indecency with a child.
