Travis County and the city of Austin are still taking aim at gun shows and the Texas Attorney General is prepared to sue them.
Travis County is weighing up whether to prohibit gun shows at county operated locations. Austin is also looking at requiring a special council-approved permit to have gun shows on private property in the city.
Both appear to be efforts to stop the so-called gun show loophole where some gun buyers don't need background checks.
The Attorney General says the efforts are nothing more than political grandstanding.
Attorney General Abbott also said if Austin tries to push gun show regulation it could backfire and hit the city very hard in the pocketbook.
