Police have arrested a homeless man who they say sexually abused an 8-year-old girl three years ago.
A few weeks ago, officers responded to a home in the 16900 block of West Tasha Drive in Surprise. Johnny Michael Noriega, 26, was lying on the ground and had been assaulted.
Officers asked him what happened, and Noriega said he "deserved to be assaulted" because he inappropriately touched his female assailant's daughter.
Detectives then began investigating that claim. They learned that on three separate occasions from December 2009 to January 2010, Noriega committed sexual offenses against the then-8-year-old victim, according to court documents.
The offenses allegedly occurred at a home in the 16800 block West Tonbridge Street in Surprise.
On Jan. 7, Noriega was arrested and booked into jail on 1 count of sexual conduct with a minor, 6 counts of molestation of a child, and 2 counts of sexual abuse.
Noriega is reportedly homeless. His relationship to the victim is unclear.
