Del. Police Release Photo Of Wanted Homicide Suspect

Delaware State Police have released several stills from surveillance video of a robbery turned homicide from a small market in Newport, Del.
On Friday, November 2, a man donning a mask and armed with a knife walked into the Penn Bantam Market on Newport Gap Pike at 7:15pm.
According to a preliminary investigation, the suspect vaulted the sales counter and confronted the 57 year old male owner of the market and demanded money from the cash register. A physical struggle ensued between the male victim and the suspect, with the suspect stabbing the victim in the chest with the knife. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash in a northbound direction on Newport Gap Pike.

Maganlal Chauhan of Newport, DE was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The suspect is described as a Black
male, unknown age, 5'10"-6'0", 180 lbs, muscular build. he was last seen wearing black
hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, royal blue baseball cap, white sneaker, gray
scarf covering face to disguise identity, and blue latex gloves covering hands.
he is armed with unknown type of knife.

Not the prettiest Friday, but we're ready for a great weekend. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day.
