A lot of explaining and apologizing is going on following Monday night's broadcast of the college football BCS championship game.
The game was a dud on the field, but in the stands, the girlfriend of the Alabama quarterback stole the spotlight.
She led one of the sportscasters to embarrassingly gush on air, and an Arizona Cardinals player to inadvertently tweet out his personal phone number.
Today ESPN apologized for its commentator gushing over Katherine Webb. Since last night's game the 23-year-old has become a social media sensation.
She now has more than 200,000 Twitter followers -- much more than the few hundred she had before the game and twice as many as her quarterback boyfriend who won the game.
"You see that lovely lady there she goes to Auburn. I will admit that but she's also Miss Alabama and that's AJ McCarron's girlfriend… wow I'll tell you you quarterbacks you get all the good looking women, that's a beautiful woman. Wow AJ, wow whoa doing some things right. If you're a youngster in Alabama start getting the football out and throw it around the backyard with pop."
ESPN announcer, 73-year-old Brent Musburger wasn't the only one enthralled with Katherine Webb during last night's BCS game.
The girlfriend of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron also got the attention of Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett.
He seemed to have inadvertently tweeted his phone number to her, suggesting they meet up at a Miami strip club then go for hot wings.
He later tweeted that he meant to send Webb a private message.
Twitter users have mixed reactions to the blunder -- or was it?
"I think it was a 50-50 chance, it could have been a publicity stunt but maybe not," says Twitter user Randy Thomas.
"Talk to them in person, if you don't see them in person, don't hit them up on social networks. I don't think that's a good idea…. absolutely that's kind of bad, you're caught man," says Twitter user Teven Morales.
McCarron later wrote Dockett, saying "you better worry about being in them playoffs" and "better keep dreaming like the rest of these dudes." He tagged another tweet with "all love."
But Dockett didn't let McCarron get the last word, finally tweeting an image of himself photo-shopped with the couple saying "sharing is caring."
Webb is a model in Los Angeles and is Miss Alabama.
Today Donald Trump took to Twitter asking her to be a judge at the upcoming Miss USA pageant.
