Fake parking attendant charged for theft

Posted: Updated:

Austin Police have charged a man after they say pretended to be a parking attendant and took money from a driver who wanted to park at a parking garage at 300 San Antonio Street.

Police say 45-year-old Freddie James Savage took $10 from the victim and gave him half of a blue ticket

Savage told police he was "just making a living."

Police have been contacted in the past by employees of the same parking garage about Savage pretending to work there. Savage has previously convicted of two thefts.

Savage was charged theft. Due to his prior convictions the charge has been enhanced to a felony.
