NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The naked, charred body found on a Brooklyn shoreline has been identified as a 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing.

Police say the was found in Brooklyn Sunday morning in a nature preserve.  She had burns on her hands, arms and legs.

Her body had been partially buried in the sand.

Officers responded to a call around 7:15 a.m. and found the body near Gerritsen and Lois Avenues in Marine Park.

It was located in a sandy clearing surrounded by thick brush on the border of Marine Park and Gerritsen Beach.

Authorities say Shaniesha Forbes was last seen on Friday and was reported missing the next day.

The area was hard hit by Superstorm Sandy on Oct. 29, but police say the death was not storm-related since the body wasn't decomposed.
