Travis County Fire investigators say the cause of an explosion that led to a fire at a Manor home and injured two gas company workers was accidental.
The explosion occurred at a home in the 11000 block of Briarcreek Loop on Dec. 27 after a resident called the Texas Community Propane to report the smell of gas. Crews arrived and were inspecting the exterior gas riser at the home when the explosion occurred.
Investigators say evidence shows that the gas riser that feeds gas directly into the home was damaged by the resident of the home, which led to a buildup of gas into the home's laundry room.
The Fire Marshal's Office does not anticipate filing any charges regarding this gas explosion.
Officials urge all residents to only allow licensed gas installation experts to install gas lines within their homes and buildings.
